When Karl Malone retired in 2005, America lost its mailman. However, Josh Giddey may be the next Karl Malone, but not for the best reasons.
It’s been a horrid start on and off the court for the Australian golden basketball boy with Giddey only averaging 11 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, half a steal, and 0 blocks.
However, Giddey’s off-court performances may lead to him facing a different type of court, as at the moment, he is currently under investigation by the FBI for having a relationship with an underage girl. On the 23rd of November 2023, several videos and photos of the former number 6 pick circled the internet. After much research, many people discovered that the woman was only 15 years of age when the videos and photos were taken. This has led many people to be disgusted at Giddey, demanding he should be kicked from the league. The girl's family is declining to speak and Giddey has seen a dip in his minutes while also getting booed by fans.
After more information has come out, it has been reported as of the 3rd of December, that it was only a one-night stand. Giddey has not commented publicly on the situation so far yet he’s claimed to have believed the girl was 19 at the time they met at a nightclub in 2021. After Giddey realized her age, he was said to have immediately broken off the relationship with the woman.
This is only the start of a very long process. Even if Giddey is proven innocent, the internet is a very harsh place. Hopefully, for everyone's sake, this is sorted out and Giddey is remembered for his on-court performance and not over this incident.
