Keeping it Simple to Stand the Test of Time

Waking up to the oddly familiar smell of my grandparents home, I’d hurriedly run downstairs and turn on the Nintendo Wii. From there, I’d be glued to the television for hours at a time playing Wii Sports, Mario Kart, Super Mario Bros and whatever else the Nintendo Wii had to offer.

Recently I’ve revisited the Nintendo Wii. After what seems like almost 10 years ago, I have been reintroduced to the console through my 5 year old cousin who has found the same enjoyment in the Nintendo Wii, despite the console's release nearly 15 years ago now. The Nintendo Wii is simply a timeless piece of technology and one that has already stood the test of time. In a world where technology moves so quick and phones and game consoles become outdated in a blink of an eye, the Nintendo Wii remains as a solid piece of technology with the uncanny ability to bring people together. This also makes me question why casual gaming and “party games” have been on the decline recently. With the rise of PlayStation and Xbox, there really has been no gap in the market for such a simple console to exist, a console where even my own grandparents can join in on the fun. But as of now the Nintendo Wii is still timeless and I hope it will stay for many generations to come.
