My recent dining experience at Via Porta, located in Mont Albert, was a mixed bag of positive and negative aspects. While the restaurant's warm and inviting ambiance and the freshness of its ingredients left a positive impression, there were some shortcomings that unfortunately detracted from the overall dining experience.
The restaurant's décor is simple yet elegant, with warm lighting creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
Upon being seated, we noticed that it took a while for our waiter to take our order. Despite the restaurant not being overly busy, there seemed to be a lack of attentiveness from the waitstaff. Once our order was finally placed, the wait for our food was also on the longer side.
When our meals arrived, we were impressed with the presentation and the use of fresh, seasonal ingredients. The pasta dishes were cooked al dente and full of flavourful. However, we did find the pasta to be excessively oily, which slightly overshadowed the overall taste.
While the food at Via Porta was generally good, the excessively oily pasta and the inattentive service were noticeable drawbacks. The restaurant's warm ambiance and the freshness of its ingredients make it a promising dining option, but there is some room for improvement in terms of service and the execution of certain dishes.
Here is a more detailed breakdown of my rating:
Food: 6/10
Service: 5/10
Atmosphere: 8/10
Value: 5/10
Overall: 6.8/10
I would recommend Via Porta for a quick coffee visit or maybe a light snack but save your time and money for another place if you’re looking for an eat.
