Faisal takes on restaurants: College Drop Out Burgers.
The Kanye West themed restaurant, based in Ivanhoe, offers a range of burgers, drinks, sides and desserts.
The restaurant was sued in 2022 by rapper Kanye West, after using his name and property in many aspects of the restaurant, however the case was dropped in 2023.
Each burger and item was named creatively as a play on words with themes related to Kanye west. This includes burgers named after songs and albums such as; Graduation, Gorgeous, Famous, Heartless, (No More) Parties in LA, College Dropout, Chicken (jesus) is King, Good Ass Chicken, Workout Plan, and Gold Digger.
The layout was quite small, with about 4 small tables inside and 2 outside. Interestingly, the walls were covered with writing, and it was encouraged by staff to draw/write, adding a sharpie on the wall.
The Gold Digger, a ‘hot and spicy chicken’ burger, was very lovely and was very juicy. The amount of spice and juiciness of the burger was perfect.
The house fries were also exceptional, although a bit too salty for my taste.
Finally, I got a vanilla thick-shake, and they mean THICK-shake. Took me a dedicated 10 minutes to drink the shake, although to be fair it was quite tasty.
I will say however, for the burger, chips and the shake, it costed a total of $33 which is quite pricey.
The beef patties are also quite similar to a McDonald’s cheeseburger patty, and I’d highly recommend to get a chicken burger over a beef burger.
I would come here again, however definitely would not make it a regular occurrence just because of the price. Taste in music was also elite.
Overall, I’m giving College Drop Out Burgers an 7.8/10.
